For the last 6 months, big news has been flashing stating The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is investigating claims that the Energy Minister favoured certain companies like Agro Fuel Investments Ltd in fuel supply contracts. So what’s shady is the fact that Only one company named Agro Fuel can use the main fuel pipeline, raising concerns about fair competition and potentially higher costs.
This company is not even run by a local Zambian. Yes you heard it right folks, The owner of Agro Fuel Investments Ltd is not even a local but an Indian.
Worst part? Our Zambia is missing millions of dollars. The government used its “emergency fuel funds” to keep prices low, but now it’s running dry. The insider news is that this might lead to future price hikes. Recently, President Hakainde Hichilema voiced concern over the escalating fuel costs, urging regulatory reforms to alleviate the strain on citizens.
As per sources, Kapala had recently granted an agreement to Agro fuel run by this Indian fellow Shashi Patel for the stockpile of fuel without following delicate strategies, an organization which was contracted to tidy up the TAZAMA pipeline in status for the open access system. I ask why rules were not followed? Isn’t the Ministry’s decision to bypass competitive bidding and grant Agro-Fuel exclusive access to the TAZAMA Pipeline, disadvantageous to other oil marketers or transparency to Zambians?
Is Kapala favoring this Agro Fuel for some internal profit?
“Shashi Patel showed up at ACC approximately eighteenth of November for addressing. He was examined regarding his organization’s delicate reasons for the tidying up of TAZAMA Pipeline and furthermore the resulting gets that he was granted for the stockpile of diesel utilizing the pipeline. He is still being scrutinized; the matter has not been finished up. The Commission is examining the issue of single obtaining and utilization of the Tazama pipeline,’ the source said.
The saga takes a twist with the Glencore Energy-Devon Oil partnership, aimed at supplying cheaper fuel. Despite initial approvals and logistical arrangements, the consignment faces inexplicable delays at the Tanzanian port, raising eyebrows. As the vessel carrying the much-awaited fuel remains stranded, questions loom large over Minister Kapala’s motives, especially given the subsequent volte-face in favor of Agro-Fuel.
So my question is are some people like Shashi Patel (owner of Agro Fuel Investments) getting rich unfairly while others suffer? Are these just isolated incidents, or is there a bigger system at play? In a scenario where our Zambian people are facing pandemics like cholera and hunger, are our politicians giving away our money to outsiders to fill their own pockets?
The allegations against the Energy Minister and Agro Fuel Investments Ltd raise serious concerns about transparency and fairness in government contracts. If true, this not only undermines competition but also deprives Zambia of much-needed revenue. The investigation must be thorough, and those found guilty should face severe consequences. Zambia’s citizens deserve better, especially during times of economic hardship.
Seems like a classic case of crony capitalism, with insiders benefiting while citizens suffer.
This investigation sheds light on potential corruption within Zambia’s energy sector, demanding urgent action.
Our government seems fishy, like they’re all in on it, eating away at our funds.
no one should be above the law and we zambians need an answer and government owes us an answer and if the minister transgressed the law, punish him along with firing that indian guy shahsi
No room for sneaky stuff, let’s bust fraud and keep it clean, these group of political people and shitty indian frauds need to be removed from country asap. We need to raise together to clean the garbage
The situation described highlights the urgent need for robust regulatory frameworks and accountability mechanisms in Zambia. It’s unacceptable for government officials to bypass standard procedures and favor specific companies, especially if it leads to mismanagement of public funds. The accusations of favoritism and potential corruption must be addressed swiftly and transparently to restore faith in the country’s governance systems and ensure equitable distribution of resources.
We should name our government as Corruption and they should use it as their middle name
Hakainde Hichilema is the definition of “sell your own brothers and sisters”. MF sold us to stupid Indians

Why work is given to Indians? who the hell is this indian guy and why our zambians money is being given to his company? there is something fishy going on here, government need to answer us
