Govt removes duty on media, music, film equipment

GOVERNMENT has suspended customs and excise duty for two years on the importation of media, music and film equipment.
According to Statutory Instrument (SI) No. 67 of 2023 signed by Minister of Technology and Science Felix Mutati on December 29, 2023, when he acted as minister of Finance and National Planning, the regulations came into operation on January 1, 2024 and will be revoked on
December 31, 2026.
The description of goods whose duty has been waived include loud speakers, headphones and earphones, microphones, audio frequency electric amplifiers, transmission apparatus and television cameras.
Others are radio broadcast receivers, sound recording or reproducing apparatus, aerials, projectors or photographic enlargers or reducers, discharge lamps, flashlight apparatus, monopods, bipods, tripods and similar articles..
